The activity of the NMR Carbohydrate Centre is mainly dedicated to structural analysis of carbohydrates and to the study of their interactions with proteins. Besides spectrometers for solution studies, the Center utilizes a spectrometer for solid phase studies, mainly for morphological characterization of polysaccharides in the solid phase. Currently, there are two permanent staff members and two young researchers who provide scientific support and maintenance, instrument training and applications assistance to users. The facility's function is to maintain a sufficient number and type of state-of-the-art major instruments in order to support the ongoing research programs. Because of the five NMR instruments, the group has one of the highest instrumental time dedicated to the study of carbohydrates available in a NMR lab.
